Happy Tuesday! It's rainy & gloomy outside, which I love. But I'd love it even more if I could stay at home all day! Yesterday was a lot of fun, we had a spur of the moment family/friend breakfast of hummus, falafel, foul ( have any of you tried foul mudamas?), and pastries. It was nice to get together and have some laughs. We ended up heading out to Yogurt Mountain and the movies later. What did we see? Black Swan of course! You know if there is ballet involved I am all over it.
........ Seriously.
....... I wish I was a ballerina.
I didn't know much about the movie before we went and the only comment I heard was that the person left a little confused on their overall reaction.
What'd I think? I loved it. There were a few times where I wasn't sure I was following where the plot was going but I think I've figured it out. Oh and there were also some scenes that made me a *wee* bit uncomfortable, but thats how movies can be sometimes.
I think any perfectionist can relate to Natalie Portman in Black Swan. Her desire for perfection consumed her. It mocked her. It killed her. She wanted her role as the Swan Queen to be so perfect that she allowed it to control her life.
My goal this year is to appreciate and enjoy whatever I am doing, and focus less on how perfect I'd like for it to be.
I really enjoyed it =) LOVE anything Nat portman is in!
ReplyDeleteI saw Black Swan last week and loved it too. It's so raw, so real, so honest. I had heard a lot before I saw it, so I was prepared, or else I would have been really confused. I'd watch it again, but not for entertainment...just to analyze it and look for symbolism! :)
ReplyDeleteThat movie was so intense! I'm not a huge fan of scary movies, so I had a hard time sleeping for a good week after seeing it. It was really good though! Natalie Portman did a fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteI'm a former ballerina and I LOVE all things ballet related. Obsessed. Including Black Swan!
ReplyDeleteMmm, hummus and falafel - sign me up! And after I watched "Black Swan" my dreams of being a ballerina kind of shattered because I realized how hard it must be, but it was a brilliant film. So well done! And I like your goal :)
ReplyDeleteHavent seen it yet but I cant wait to!
ReplyDeleteRachie xo
Sounds like you had a fabulous day! I can't wait to see the movie! The Black Swan is one of my most favourite ballets ever and I am also a big fan of movies related to dance/ballet. x
ReplyDeleteI've yet to see it...it's been on the list. It seems amazing yet disturbing but I hear she's fabulous plus it's ballet so how can I not go see it? :)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see this movie but I do really want to watch it! I'm glad to hear that it was good!! p.s. thanks for stopping by my blog! yours is adorable and I'll be back :) xo
ReplyDeleteI had big plans to go see it the weekend it opened but for whatever reason have not yet seen it. So glad to hear it was good... think I will try to get there this weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteloved this movie too - very intense!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad someone else wears suspenders! Yey! And I've always wanted to be a ballerina too. It's a shame these legs were built for contact sports like soccer, because I can rock me a tutu like nobody's business. Glad someone else liked the movie as much as me. Go see The King's Speech. SOOOO good.
ReplyDeleteI SO need to see that movie! I know I'm going to love it!
ReplyDeletei want to see this so badly. i'm trying to find an english theater here.
