As a little girl, I used to love watching my mom put on her make-up. The way she dabbed foundation on her cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin was so "grown-up" to me. But what I loved most was when she would put on lipstick. To me, there is nothing more girly, flirtatious, or fun that putting on lipstick.
During my teenage years lipstick was so uncool. Lipgloss was the way to go. And dear Lord, did I put on lip gloss all the time. I was addicted.
Now, I've come back to the classic beauty of lipstick. I love putting it on, and I love the finishing touch it can give to an outfit. If anyone ever told me I'd one day wear hot pink lipstick, I think I'd be horrified. But surprisingly, sometimes it just works.
The first three I bought from Victoria's Secret (in order: beauty rush "grape fruity", beauty rush " cutie pie", and VS "vulnerable" . Unlike a lot of other lipsticks, they moisturize my lips - not dry them out. The fourth one is "Red Revival" from Maybelline. If you ask me, every girl should have red lipstick in their make-up cabinet. It's classic and timeless, but the only downside is..it dries my lips out like crazy. So I make sure to keep some aquaphor on hand whenever I go back to re-apply. The last one is "511B" from WetnWild. I don't usually buy this brand, but I tried it on at a friends house and thought the color was a lot of fun. At times it's a hit or miss. In real life, I love the way it looks, but in pictures I don't think it gets the justice is deserves.
These are the top 5 lipsticks I rotate through on a regular basis. I love putting them on even when I'm at home {it makes me feel prettier ;-)} But my #1 fave? The VS "vulnerable". A glossy coral color- it makes my heart melt.
I love lipstick and have so much passion for it. Nice selection :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Beauty Rush, but maybe I'll try their lipsticks. The VS Vulnerable looks pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for a glossy coral =) I wish I wasn't whiter than life b/c I looooove red + pink lipsticks but they look SO MAJOR on me its kind of too shocking for 99% of occasions =) haha!

i'm still trying to find my perfect red. i do love a soft pink, though :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same memories of my mom. I'm also still searching for the right shade. My lips always dry out with lipstick, too, no matter how much balm I put on. Tips, cousin? Share your expert ways :)
ReplyDeletei'm a lip gloss freak! i'm obsessed!!
ReplyDeletei don't wear a lot of lipstick because most of them do dry out my lips... so i guess i'll have to give the VS one's a try... :)
I wish my hubby wasn't such a turd about lipstick. He won't go near my lips if I'm even wearing a clear lipgloss. Such a wimp! You should do a tutorial on how to apply lipliner when using bright or dark lipstick. I'm such a moron in that arena. : ) Pretty please!
