So as I'm attempting to get our living room in order, I keep coming up empty on one certain area: the rug. I'd love to get the rug asap since I feel like it's the key element in making the room feel unified and tie everything together. But here's the dilemma, I'm not really sure what I want. As much as I'm loving the over-dyed antique rug look, a.) I'm afraid it may be too bold for the room b.) there's none in the size I need - something around 9 feet, both ways. So I suppose that leaves me looking for an 8 x 10 or a 9 x 12? So confusing.
So while I love ourani/ flokati rugs I don't think their white colors would work in an heavy traffic area. Navajo/tribal/ aztec/whatever-you-call-them rugs are gorgeous, but I can't seem to find any that aren't "tex-mexy" colors (does that even make sense?)
Geometric rugs are fun..for a few minutes, then I'm sure I'll get bored and want to change it. So here is where you come in. Where can I find a wide selection of rugs that are affordable and big? I've searched RugsUSA, but never seem to come up with anything. Help a sister out, would ya?
I love this rug style, very boho..
ReplyDeleteThat last rug is gorgeous! Love the use in the first two pictures...quite unexpected. Can't wait to see what you go with.
ReplyDeleteHi Nuha! Why don't you try http://www.tajzoyrugs.com/index.html? My friend is their sales and social media coordinator and I've seen some pretty cool stuff. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteI love all these options you posted!! I was just in Afghanistan, and I wanted to bring home an entire rug shop - I feel your pain. It's hard to choose a rug...but I think you're right on in not getting a white one. Seems like you're setting yourself up stains and a dirty looking new rug ;) I wish I had more suggestions - I'm at a loss myself. Although I seem to always be impressed at the options Cost Plus World Market.
ReplyDeleteHello! Tgis post are great! You are very beautyful! Lets follow each other! If agree let me know!
ReplyDeleteGirl you just gotta get to searching Craigslist and ebay....its so timeconsuming, but worth it. FYI if you cant find the right size in a pattern you love, try layering a crazy colorful patterned one over a neutral jute or a black and white striped. Hope that helps!!!
ReplyDeleteThese rooms are so lovely and romantic. Ahh it doesn't hurt to dream, right? :)

There at some great rugs like the ones in your pics on etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/yesterdayremains, plus they are super affordable!
ReplyDeletePS- I LOVE your header
Try etsy, ebay antique stores...Have you looked on http://moroccanmaryam.typepad.com/ ? I'm thinking that last pic is from her site. She may not have that exact one but may have similar. HTe only problem is that you can't see it in person before you buy... xoxo
ReplyDeletebeautiful pictures!

Beautiful collection of rugs. That last rug is so gorgeous, I'd design an entire room around it! I would suggest searching Etsy and eBay.
ReplyDeleteI've had the same problem. Finding a living room rug has been a huge obstacle. Like you, I love the over-dyed rugs, but would one overpower the room and just take away from other design elements? I couldn't find a large enough size that fit within my budget anyway. After many dozens (hundreds?) of hours searching online and in few local stores, I finally happened upon on a large bound carpet remnant in a lovely peacock blue color. It's not my "forever" rug, but looks awesome in the room and only cost $85.
