Cookbook: Nutella Smores

Have I ever mentioned how obsessed I am with Nutella?  Or with smores for that matter?  No?  I guess between obsessing over Ellie Saab's latest runway show and all things Victoria Beckham I never got around to it.  There's something delightfully entertaining about smores- the way they puff up and charr ( mmmmmmmmm), the way chocolate melts just enough to create a deliciously stringy treat with every bite you take.  Heaven, I tell you.  Heaven.  So when I found a box of Puff Pastry Shells in my freezer and noticed they had been there for an embarrassingly long time I decided to get my butt into action.

I decided I would make a mini asparagus tart.

.....

But then I figured that would take too long and got lazy.  So I thought of something even better!

Enter nutella.  These are so so so stinkin easy to make and you will seriously be the coolest  person ever if you make these for your guests.  Alaa loved them and told me so a couple of times ( without my constant badgering of "How do they taste?"  "Are they missing anything?"  "I should have added ____!"), and that my friends is kind of a big deal.

Plus, they're pretty to look at, which is one of the most important things in my book.

Step 1:  Bake frozen puff pastry shells as directed on box for roughly 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 2:  Remove baked shells and carve out the stuffing (but don't throw them away!  nutella does not discriminate against puff pastry - consider these "testers").  This is really easy to do, because they've already pre-carved it for you :-)

Step 3:  Add a tablespoon of nutella to each shell.  Adjust amount to your own personal preference.

Step 4:  Layer a marshmallow on top of the nutella and return to the oven to bake until the marshmallow melts & browns.
Step 5:  Drizzle additional nutella on top of marshmallow.

Step 6:  Decorate with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream.

These are equally as good the next day.  Just nuke them in the microwave for a few seconds and enjoy!
