Friday Fancies : Derby Days

dress: vintage  |  belt : express  |  shoes & purse: gianni bini  | fascinator :  dillards  |  jewels : palestine, lebanon

I have a huge obsession with hats.  I've got a shelf full of them, and every time I walk past a rack of them I get all giddy inside.  There's something so fun about them!  I especially love huge ones that no one in their right minds would wear - at least in the US.  I mean look at how cool the Brits look in all of their fascinator glory.  I saw we start a movement to get more Americans to wear cooler hats.

Who's with me?!

P.S. on a completely un-related note, I'm wearing my dress backwards in these photos.  I didn't like the way the dress looked originally so I thought it'd be fun to reverse it and have a modest neckline.  I'm quite pleased with the result.  Now I'm off to see what else I can wear in reverse ;-)

p.p.s  linking up to friday fancies!  click here to see more derby inspiration as well as cinco de mayo outfits!

  10. Then you'd LOVE Melbourne... especially every year during the racing carnival. Everyone dolls up with cocktail dresses, hats, fascinators - it's so much fun, and the whole city looks like a giant blast from the past :D You'd fit right in xx

  12. Just found your blog through Sarah Tucker's fairytales are true and I just had to leave a note because a few things. First off I went to lebanon last year and learned habibi as one of my first words. I saw it on your blog and got so excited! Then I discover that you are a nurse! I am too and just started working in the ICU back in 2009. I have my own blog where I write about it and other stuff too. http://oncallrn.blogspot.com I'm excited I found your blog! Happy Sat!
