This weekend was Memphis' first Cupcake Camp. As a bit of a cupcake fanatic, my sister knew I would probably want to get in on the action. It was nice to see all of the different techniques and flavors people used to make their cupcakes. I had a great time!
Alaa was so surprised when I asked him to help me. He got really really into it! He told me I can never bake a cupcake by myself again haha! Aghhhhh I love him :)
German Chocolate Cupcakes and Lemon Basil Cupcakes
You had the option to enter three contests: Best Memphis Theme, Healthiest Cupcake, and Most unique ingredient. I entered the Lemon Basil cupcakes in for the most unique ingredient. Here's a picture of all of the contestants for that contest. Surprisingly enough, I wasn't nervous about winning/ losing. I just really wanted to be able to say that I participated. But when I saw the taco cupcake..I knew that my little basil cupcake was not exotic enough. hah!

The "after math"
The carrot cupcakes were vegan...and they were to. die. for!
I was lucky enough to meet Whitney Miller, the winner of Fox's Master Chef. (A.K.A. Pastry Princess...a girl after my own heart!) She was incredibly sweet and gorgeous!
And these two ladies were incredibly sweet as well. They run the show "This House is Cooking". They let me try their sweet potato cupcakes. Oh my goodness, so yummy!
And look at her cut cupcake hat! How cute!
In the end I was exhausted, but it was nice to indulge in something I love so much.
Oh, and I had an exam yesterday so you know what that means?!
Oh, and stay tuned. I can't hold it in anymore...I've got a Royal Wedding Inspired Post.
I'm pathetically obsessed :)
