Hair

To whom it may concern:

It has been roughly 8 months since I have re-colored my hair.  The reason for this is partly because I always go in with high expectations of walking out as JLo's doppelganger, but end up extremely disappointed.  I have gone to numerous salons with a portfolio brimming with inspiration pictures that even a blind man could easily see the style I was going for.  Multiple times I've walked out of the salon and my own family has no idea I was even there - meaning the highlights/ dye didn't even show.  Now, I knew this.  And the stylist definitely knows this, yet she always, always assures me that "it's gorgeous!"  and "if you just step into the light it'll show!"  You can imagine my defeat when I go home looking exactly the same, yet $100+ lighter.

I won't go into much detail about the time that I decided to put my foot down to the stylist who, yet again, told me that she loved my highlights - the highlights that were no way visible in my dark head of hair.  I won't go into much detail because, after putting my foot down that I in fact was not happy and did not notice a difference, said stylist tried to remedy the problem by bleaching my hair.  Needless to say, I was heartbroken and furious when my now crunchy orange hair fell out in clumps the next day.  No, no.  I'll spare you that story.  And I won't mention the fact that instead of paying your usual fee for a normal wash, cut, color, and "style" I pay extra because my hair is "so thick and long!"

These are all reasons as to why I don't go willingly go to the hair salon as often as I'd like.  If I knew I was getting my money's worth and getting the outcome I desired, I would willingly pay what it took to get the hair I so enviously coveted.

But today is a new day.  Today, I am sick of my imitation "ombre" hair and have decided to give it another chance..at another salon, yet again.  I've forewarned the secretary to tell my stylist that my hair has a hard time taking in color, and that I have thick, long, curly hair.  I am desperately praying that this time, maybe,  just maybe, I can be Jlo's doppelganger.

Please.

 Pretty please!

*these are all inspiration pictures I plan to show my stylist tomorrow, lets keep our fingers crossed it turns out the way I want it to.  oh and by the way, yes I am in fact semi-obsessed with Jlo.  Why?  Not really sure, but she sure is purty.

  3. The fact that you go to a salon for the great result but you never get what you say them to do, is sooo truth! That happens to me like all the time! But thank God is hair and can grow back fast! and the disney quote is so truth!

  7. I totally understand, my frustrations with salons was partly the reason I went to hair school! Now I just do my own and if I mess up I can't blame it on anyone but myself :) Good luck! Hopefully it comes out like you want!

  9. Hahaha my goodness - I can't even begin to tell you much I can relate! I chopped my long blonde hair to my ears and dyed it dark brown about 4 years ago....you can only imagine how many disaster stories I have trying to get back to what I had. Great post!

  11. I definitely relate to you on this! I used to color my hair a very dark brown quite often and no matter where I went, no one was able to get it even near what I asked for. I haven't colored my hair in a year and a half! I need to take the plunge again! Love your blog <3

  13. i can totally understand your dilemma! I haven't had my hair professionally cut and colored in way too long because i am always disappointed at the results. even with a million pictures they simply don't get it. When i wanted ombre one stylist actually dyed my hair almost black and put blonde highlights underneath!!! I stripped all the color with a box from wal mart the following day :(
