#ShortHairDon'tCare

When it comes to styling my hair I pretty much stick to the same routine.  It's almost always straight or maybe I'll add a few loose curls to it.  *waw*waw*waw* So boring.  With wedding season upon us I'd like to try out a few new hair styles.  It's a little bit harder now that I've chopped off nearly all of my hair.  But, who knows, maybe the shorter length will make it easier to deal with - not to mention, save me some time.

Ballerina Bun (wish I knew the source of this / had a tutorial on how to do it!)

I'm sure you've seen some of her hairstyles on Pinterest, but Kate from The Small Things Blog has a ton of really helpful hair tutorials.  And as always, you can turn to YouTube for a never ending spiral of hair tutorials and inspiration.

:: Short Hair ::

dress, jacket, + necklace : f21 | shoes: gap  | watch : michael kors

What was supposed to be a simple trim ended up being about 10 inches of my hair chopped off.  Last week I figured it was about time I did something about my dead ends and unfortunately ended up with a pretty bad hair cut.  So the only way to fix it was to chop it all off.  Part of me is kind of excited because this is just about the only noticeable change my hair has seen since God knows when, but truth be told, I miss my long locks.    Oh, and I tried dying my hair (again, yes I know)  and it still looks exactly the same.  Are you sensing a trend here?  I think I'm on a bad luck streak with all things concerning my hair.  BUT, on the bright side of things at least now my hair is healthier.  And it'll grow back.

Right?

Rightttt??????

Oh and in other more important news, today ZuZu  is 2 months!  Aghhhh!!!!! How did this happen?!  My sweet, sweet baby is growing up!

Suit Up

blazer : dillards (0ld)  | denim : target | shirt: j. crew  | scarf: love culture | purse : zara | sunnies : f21  | watch : anne klein  |

After a busy week, the main thing on my agenda was laying low for the weekend.  We relaxed, visited friends, ate some crepes, and did a little shopping.  The weather was beautiful on Saturday so we took advantage of it and spent the day outside.  It was so cute to see the baby smile when the wind blew.  That girl - she slays me.  On Sunday, I went to get my hair done.  After a very in-depth explanation of what I wanted (something along these lines)  and a warning that my hair doesn't take color well, I left 4 hours later looking .....exactly the same.  Does anybody know how to lighten dark hair?!  While people look for the elixir of life..I'm looking for someone to give me the hairstyle I've coveted for years.  Needless to say I was mucho disappointed.  I'm about to start a contest open to any hairstylist who can give me the hair color I want.  I dare you to win.

 Double doggy dare you actually...

Now on to the outfit!

I'm loving the dressed down suit trend that's going around right now.  The polished yet casual feel of it is perfect to run around in and still look put together.  Plus, it's perfect for the weather right now since the blazer is enough to keep you warm.  Add a light scarf to it and I'm a happy girl.

Friday Fancies : Pretty in Pastels

dress, worn as skirt: vintage  |  top:  f21  |  purse & necklace: zara  |  shoes : tjmaxx  | bracelets: f21, apricot lane, & diy

After 6 hours in the hair salon yesterday ( i kid you not), this is the final result.  It took a couple of tries to get it right, and I'm actually kind of pleased with the result ( I think).  I still would have liked it a little lighter, but usually my hair lightens up when I wash and straighten it a few times.  You can't really tell in these pictures, but underneath I'm sporting a few blonde (blonde! eek!) strands.  I kinda feel rebellious - I'm a brunette and a blonde at the same time.

Who woulda thought!

 I leave you with a pretty picture of what I wish my yard was full of - gorgeous pink roses.

Happy Friday guys!

Hair

To whom it may concern:

It has been roughly 8 months since I have re-colored my hair.  The reason for this is partly because I always go in with high expectations of walking out as JLo's doppelganger, but end up extremely disappointed.  I have gone to numerous salons with a portfolio brimming with inspiration pictures that even a blind man could easily see the style I was going for.  Multiple times I've walked out of the salon and my own family has no idea I was even there - meaning the highlights/ dye didn't even show.  Now, I knew this.  And the stylist definitely knows this, yet she always, always assures me that "it's gorgeous!"  and "if you just step into the light it'll show!"  You can imagine my defeat when I go home looking exactly the same, yet $100+ lighter.

I won't go into much detail about the time that I decided to put my foot down to the stylist who, yet again, told me that she loved my highlights - the highlights that were no way visible in my dark head of hair.  I won't go into much detail because, after putting my foot down that I in fact was not happy and did not notice a difference, said stylist tried to remedy the problem by bleaching my hair.  Needless to say, I was heartbroken and furious when my now crunchy orange hair fell out in clumps the next day.  No, no.  I'll spare you that story.  And I won't mention the fact that instead of paying your usual fee for a normal wash, cut, color, and "style" I pay extra because my hair is "so thick and long!"

These are all reasons as to why I don't go willingly go to the hair salon as often as I'd like.  If I knew I was getting my money's worth and getting the outcome I desired, I would willingly pay what it took to get the hair I so enviously coveted.

But today is a new day.  Today, I am sick of my imitation "ombre" hair and have decided to give it another chance..at another salon, yet again.  I've forewarned the secretary to tell my stylist that my hair has a hard time taking in color, and that I have thick, long, curly hair.  I am desperately praying that this time, maybe,  just maybe, I can be Jlo's doppelganger.

Please.

 Pretty please!

*these are all inspiration pictures I plan to show my stylist tomorrow, lets keep our fingers crossed it turns out the way I want it to.  oh and by the way, yes I am in fact semi-obsessed with Jlo.  Why?  Not really sure, but she sure is purty.

the 5-minute updo : a vlog

morning ladies! sorry to be MIA for so long, but I really didn't have anything interesting to say, so why waste time on something that my heart isn't into?  i've got something new to share with you today.  my first ever video blog!  i'm really surprised i'm letting myself upload this...i'm a little awkward if i dare say so myself.  does anyone else ALWAYS feel awkward when seeing/listening to themselves in movies?  oh well, c'est la vie i suppose.

anyways, every now and then i get the sudden urge to play with make-up/ hair.  my older sister Heba is a genius at that stuff, and while i love it, i never think to "practice" it.  i've had a few events this month, and got a few more coming up (busy september!) so i figured that now would be the perfect time to experiment with new looks.  it's nothing spectacular, and you may already do this yourself, but i was excited (but that's coming from someone who is easily excitable!)

this video is just a tutorial on hair; for make-up i used this tutorial {via make-up geek}.  there's really no need for me to re-iterate what she said, she did it so well already :)

Comfiest Outfit Ever

I woke up a half hour early on Monday and Alaa told me I should go ahead and get up. (He was already awake)  Instead, I went back to sleep....and woke up a half hour late.  Oops.  I didn't have much time to get ready so my wardrobe options were reeling through my head at an insane pace.  I wanted to be comfortable yet not look like a complete slob.    In the midst of everything, I think I created the comfiest outfit ever.
I present to you my new go to outfit :)

{and incase you're wondering why I'm sitting on the floor..well, it's because I am not so clever at taking full length outfit pictures...I spared you the awkward ones}
Shirt: F21, Pants: Guess, Shoes: {Gift} Rocket Dog, Bracelets: F21 & NYC

{except for this awkward one}

Alaa and I went on a date to the mall this weekend.  Lo and behold there was a huge stand of easter hats beckoning me to try them on.  I was in heaven.  Can someone please buy one for me?
I'll lurve you forever...
Alaa did talk me into getting a headband one.  It looks very Kate Middleton if I do say so myself.  Well, what do ya know...I'm all set for the Royal Wedding now!
(FYI..I'm geeking out about the Royal Wedding... t-9 days!!)

And I thought I'd introduce you to my favorite pair of shoes. Can you tell that I wear them a lot?

And here's a sneak peak of a little project I'm working on.

I can't wait to finish it!

Hair Inspiration : Love Maegan

I've been completely obsessed with this hair style ever since ...Love Maegan posted it.  I am so envious of her hair! { I've been wanting to try this one so bad!}  I was able to replicate it on my sister, but I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off on my own hair.  I'm not that hand coordinated, ha!

Anyways, isn't it so dreamy?  And perfect for all of those events you know you'll be attending this summer.
