New Series: Our House

We're 8 months into living in our new place and I feel like I still haven't completely designed a single room. I know that homes are a "work in progress" and that it'll never feel completely done to me.  In the meantime, I want to start sharing glimpses of the little nooks and crannies that I have been able to put my own touch on.

First up, the the fireplace mantel.

I bought the gold gilded mirror at an antique store after randomly spotting a sidewalk sale.  It was basically love at first sight and I took it home right away, without even consulting Alaa.  ( I never do that- I want this to be our home, not just mine.)  The candelabras are antique as well, picked up in a little city in Arkansas.  The art is something I scribbled together a few days ago and may get re-painted.  The mercury glass candle holders and votives were bought at Marshalls.

glamified chair

since we're currently working on re-vamping the office i've had a few thoughts spinning around on what to do regarding the actual office chair.  right now it's currently a black leather sliding chair...nothing fancy.  buttttttt, if i threw on a white fur throw...well, hmmm...we might have some instant glamification on our hands

Summer Lovin

there are infinite amounts of reasons as to why we wanted to stop renting and finally make the big step to buying our first home.  ya know, things like annoying neighbors, lugging groceries up the stairs (5 times, up and down, up and down..thank you garage inventor), and the restrictions when having guests over.  i would internally cringe just about everytime alaa would walk (he sounds like big foot!!) or when we would have guests over (the neighbors are going to kill us!)  but really, the thing i was most excited for?

grilling.

i can't get enough of it.  everything taste better when there are char marks on it...so so good.

and you know what's even more exciting than grilling "regular" food?

grilled pizza.

oh. my.

this pizza is 100% from scratch

well about 90% because technically i didn't make the olives or the chicken or the cheese...but that's just minor details.

The Office

sometime's i have to stop myself from wanting to glam up the whole house as soon as possible.  i keep reminding myself that i want to take my time turning this house into our home and i want to make sure that i love every single piece of furniture we bring into this place.  right now the office is probably the most cluttered room because i want to get rid of our old bookshelves and turn the room into something much more classier.  so basically my jaw dropped when i spotted this office on pinterest.

takin' it easy

i feel like things have been in such a "go, go, go!" rush lately that i've barely had a chance to sit back and take it all in.  this morning i decided to hold off on making the bed and washing dishes and instead i layed out in my(my!!) backyard. 

 it was so relaxing :)

guess what...

we just bought our first home! yippee!  alaa and i are incredibly excited to finally own our first home.  we're in the process of moving in right now and I already have so many ideas for the new place!

i can't wait to share this little adventure with you!
